Emmerdale fans ‘work out Debbie Dingle death twist’ after killer Meena’s escape

Emmerdale viewers have predicted a sinister Debbie Dingle twist, following the news the character is not returning to the ITV soap. Actress Charley Webb recently confirmed she had left the role for good after 19 years, despite a brief return in 2020. The character is now living in Scotland with her son Jack, after starting a new life there in 2019.

But following a twist with serial killer Meena Jutla on the ITV soap on Thursday night, some fans have questioned whether she might be killed off. Meena managed to escape justice yet again in the latest visit to the Dales, just as it appeared she was finally going to be caught.

Instead, Meena managed to hitch a lift with a lorry driver named Tommy who was heading for Glasgow. Meena said she liked Scotland, and that was where she would be going on the run.

But the confession left fans speculating whether she might somehow locate Debbie, and perhaps this could be her next victim. Taking to Twitter, many recalled Debbie being in Scotland where killer Meena was headed – as one fan even questioned a Cain Dingle twist.

A third viewer commented: “Next stop Glasgow, where Meena will somehow find and murder Debbie Dingle.”

Another fan wrote: “Ohh she off to Scotland well that’s one way to kill off debbie dingle.” Meanwhile, viewers hit out at the soap over the Meena twist as they thought the storyline would be coming to an end. Bosses recently teased “judgement day” for the character after she killed Leanna, Andrea Tate, Ben Tucker and tried to kill Vinny Dingle, Manpreet Sharma and Victoria Sugden.

She also killed someone named Nadine who was her first victim, while it’s not known if she might kill again.

“I think it’s fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming. But whether she’ll get away with murder you’re going to have to wait and find out,” executive producer Jane Hudson teased to The Mirror and other press.

“There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story. Some that you probably won’t see coming but I think we can all agree that Meena can pretty much do anything.”

She added: “But yes, Meena’s judgement day is coming.

It won’t play out quite as you expect, there will be a lasting effect on a lot of the villagers but I think within the next few months, Meena will get what’s coming with her.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
