However, due to coronavirus cases within the company performing the wintery spectacle, the Theatre has been forced to cancel all the remaining shows. The four shows due to take place today (December 31) and on Sunday (January 2) have been called off and the theatre said they have contacted all ticket holders. Ticket Holders for the remaining performances will be contacted by the venue
Hull Truck said: “Unfortunately, owing to cases of Covid-19 within the company, we are unable to continue with our production of The Railway Children.
“Our priority is to protect everyone, our cast, employees and audiences and visitors to the theatre. “All ticket holders will be contacted via email (please check your junk and spam). “We’d like to ask that you don’t call the box office at this time to allow us to reach everyone who has tickets for our shows.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. “Thank you for your patience as we get in touch, and for your ongoing support.”
The show was delayed in the 2020 season due to Covid-19 enforced closures and has been created by Mike Kenny who revisited his award-winning adaptation to include the original songs which have become a much-loved part of a Hull Truck Theatre Christmas show. It is directed by Mark Babych and support comes from the team who brought you Oliver Twist and Peter Pan with the show promising “the delightful original music, toe-tapping dance routines and breathtaking set and costumes guarantee a treat for all the family to enjoy”.
The Railway Children won an Olivier Award in 2011 and has been performed at the National Railway Museum York, Waterloo Station London, Roundhouse Park Toronto and Kings Cross Station London. The show has received rave reviews and families are sure to be disappointed in missing out on the remaining performances this season.
