This is the moment a mobility scooter driver ‘held up more than 10 cars’ by refusing to pull over in a one-way street while waiting for his chippy. Footage showed ‘irate’ motorists beeping their horns behind the driver as he stopped in the middle of the road.
A large truck and several cars got stuck behind the scooter as the driver told passers-by: ‘I just want the fish and chips that I’ve paid for’. The incident happened on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter in Manchester city centre last Friday (November 19).

A gay couple assaulted by a group of people wearing balaclavas say they fear they will never be able to hold hand in public again. Ryan Winnard, 21, was walking on Coronation Road in Radcliffe, Bury, at around 8.15pm on Tuesday evening (November 23) with boyfriend Max Green, 18, when a group of men approached them.
Hurling homophobic slurs at the couple as they held hands, the group then began attacking the pair as they tried to walk off. Max was hit in the back of the head, while Ryan was punched and attacked with a hammer. Following the horrific attack, Ryan suffered a broken nose and a fractured cheek bone.

A dad ‘died for 25 minutes’ after his heart stopped when he fell ill with coronavirus. Ken Austin, 83, from Salford, said he can’t stop thinking how ‘lucky’ he is to have recovered following his six week ordeal in hospital. The army veteran’s coronavirus symptoms began at the end of August.
His wife Winnie said: “He was struggling at home for a few days, he couldn’t eat properly. “So, I rang the Covid nurses who came out and rang an ambulance for him.”

A huge cannabis grow worth GBP670,000 on a derelict farm was one of the largest a cop had ever seen. Four men were found living at the Gartside Farm in Droylsden, after concerned residents tipped off police.
Detectives believe an organised crime gang was behind the sophisticated set up, with one officer saying it was one of the largest he’d seen in his 13 year career. Alban Xhika, 31, Erin Canaj, 34, Andri Koci, 24 and Saimir Doda, 30, all of no fixed address, have been jailed.

A ‘vulnerable’ drug addict whose home was ‘cuckooed’ was murdered in a revenge attack, prosecutors allege. Leigh Smith, affectionately known as Leroy, was found dead in his home in Eccles.
He had previously told police about ‘Salford gangsters’ he was ‘in trouble with’ who had access to guns and that ‘he would be killed’. Three teenagers have gone on trial accused of 48-year-old Mr Smith’s murder. Jacob Cookson, 18, and two 17-year-old boys who can’t be named for legal reasons all deny murder.
