Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse echoed this and said: “I think you are pushing out of your comfort zone and it’s skyrocketing what’s happening to you. “When we compare you to the weeks behind I can see such a development in your performance skills.”

The praise didn’t stop on the show and Dan took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support. He tweeted: “Blown away by all of your wonderful comments about Strictly last night. “I would never have thought that was possible nine weeks ago.

“Both @NadiyaBychkova and I loved it and my little niece – Rosa – gave me a nine. “Have a gorgeous Sunday.” Dan and Nadiya made it into ‘thirty-land’ and scored 31 for their Charleston in the show’s week nine musical-themed special.

Before his dance on Saturday night’s show Dan said: “I never thought I would get to musicals week. “So now to be here and to get the chance to be Gene Kelly for 90 seconds, I mean come on. “I’m just going to go for it and hopefully it’ll be a Charleston to remember.”
