Morrisons advertises thousands of Christmas jobs
Morrisons has announced they are advertising 3,000 extra jobs for the busy Christmas months to come. Roles available range from product pickers to forklift truck drivers. The supermarket will also give full training for all roles as no prior experience is needed, the Mirror reports.
: Morrisons to close 50 home delivery services across the UK Morrisons has also joined the Kickstart scheme, meaning it welcomes applications from 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit. Staff will get at least GBP10 an hour once they pass probation, as well as a 10 per cent staff discount.
Morrisons people director Clare Grainger said: “Customers have told us that they want to make up for last year’s low-key festive season and so we are working hard to make sure that our shelves are stocked with everything they need to help them celebrate. “We are looking for 3,000 Christmas helpers to come and join our busy, fast-moving and exciting team on a temporary or permanent basis and help make good things happen this Christmas.” Sainsbury’s is also hiring 22,000 extra members of staff this Christmas to help with the busy festive season.
The supermarket will take on shop workers, delivery drivers and logistics workers as part of its “biggest ever Christmas recruitment drive”. The jobs drive includes 14,500 new Sainsbury’s and Argos store roles, including 500 customer and trading manager positions. Sainsbury’s will also hire 3,000 online delivery drivers, as well as offer 4,500 warehouse and logistics positions, which include agencies and third parties.
It will also hire a further 180 staff at its contact centres. Meanwhile, John Lewis and Waitrose are taking on 7,000 extra members of temporary staff this Christmas. The roles will be available across all 34 John Lewis shops, where 2,300 people will be hired, and 331 Waitrose stores, where the company is looking to take on 4,700 people.
In the John Lewis sites, temporary roles will include sales and merchandising positions, while Waitrose stores will be looking for supermarket assistants, night shift workers and customer delivery drivers. In addition, John Lewis and Waitrose will recruit more than 550 permanent full-time driver and warehouse roles across distribution and delivery centres. As an added incentive, both retailers say they will offer free food and drinks to workers – including temporary staff – from October 4 to December 31.
