On Friday at 6.23pm, emergency services were called to the A588 Lancaster Road in Cockerham after receiving reports that a Yamaha YZF R6 had been in a serious crash with a Toyota Hi-Lux pickup truck. The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 20s from Blackpool, suffered multiple serious injuries and was taken to hospital but sadly died on Saturday.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured and nobody has been arrested. Police are now appealing for information or for any witnesses to come forward. Sgt Steve Hardman, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This collision has resulted in a man losing his life and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this extremely difficult time.

“We are working to establish a full picture of what occurred and I would ask any witnesses or anybody with dashcam or CCTV footage which could assist our enquiries to get in contact with police. “Similarly, I would ask anybody who witnessed either vehicle in the moments prior to the collision to please get in touch.” The road was closed for five hours.
