Cyclist covered in McDonald’s hot chocolate thrown from van

A cyclist has been left angry after being drenched with a hot drink while riding his bike through the Peak District National Park. Simon’s Cycling uploaded the video to his YouTube channel to show the moment the beverage is hurled out the window of a passing van, covering him in the liquid. The incident has been reported to Derbyshire police although Derbyshire Live understands no action has as yet been taken against the driver or the passenger of the van.

stories about the Peak District “I thought I was being hit by sand falling from a builder’s truck, such was the force on my back it could have knocked me easily into the kerb,” said Simon. “I realised I was soaked all over and my bike was covered in sticky chocolate and I saw the offender drop the McDonald’s cup into the road,” added Simon.

In the video, which lasts for just under a minute, Simon is cycling through the Peak District National Park. As he goes up a hill, he is overtaken by three cars and a van before a dark Ford Transit-type van goes past close to a bend in the road. Liquid can be seen thrown from the passenger window towards Simon and his bike, the cup then falls to the road surface and bounces around as Simon approaches it.

The incident happened just after 6.15pm on Sunday, July 25.

In his comments in the video, Simon says he did report the incident to the police but officers were unable to find the driver of the van or the passenger who can be seen throwing the hot cup of chocolate out of the window.
