SCALES OF JUSTICE: Speeders, heavy HGVs and other cases in Oxford’s magistrates’ court

JENNIFER RIDLEY, 38, of Longmead, Abingdon, was fined GBP660 and given six points for failing to identify the driver of a vehicle suspected of having committed a traffic offence. She must pay GBP156 in costs and surcharge. LUBNA NUHEILI, 33, of Priory Road, Oxford, was found to have failed to identify the driver off a BMW suspected of having committed a traffic offence.

She was fined GBP660, given six penalty points and ordered to pay GBP156 in costs and surcharge. PAUL GREGORY, 39, of Overmead, Abingdon, was fined GBP660, given six points and ordered to pay GBP156 in costs and surcharge after he was found to have failed to identify the driver of a Nissan suspected of having committed a traffic offence. JAMIE PARKER, 36, of Jasper Walk, Northampton, was found to have been speeding on the A41 at Bicester.

He was clocked doing 68mph. He was fined GBP660, banned from the roads for six months due to reoffending and must pay GBP156 in costs and surcharge. PLANT A SEED LTD, a company based in City Road, Cardiff, was fined GBP500 and ordered to pay GBP300 in costs and surcharge after it was found guilty in its absence of failing to identify the driver of a Mercedes suspected of committing a traffic offence.

LIAM BAIRD, 29, of Ferriston, Banbury, was given a community order with 200 hours of unpaid work after he was convicted of driving while disqualified and without insurance in Coventry. He was banned from driving for 13 months and ordered to pay GBP180 in costs and surcharge. DAVID BARRETT, 63, of The Spinney, Launton, admitted speeding on the A41 at Bicester.

He was caught doing twice the speed limit – 81mph on the 40mph limit road. He was banned from driving for 21 days, fined GBP120 and must pay GBP119 in costs and surcharge. NICHOLAS TAYLOR, 38, of The Park, Cumnor, pleaded guilty to speeding on the A41 at Bicester.

He was caught doing 69mph on January 11. The magistrates fined him GBP300, banned him from driving for a fortnight and ordered he pay GBP119 in costs and surcharge. JONATHAN WILLIAMS, 27, of Shannon Road, Bicester, was banned from driving for 14 days, fined GBP184 and ordered to pay GBP119 in costs and surcharge after he admitted speeding on the A41 at Bicester.

His car was clocked doing 76mph. JOHN DERRY, 33, off Bansons Mews, Ongar, was fined GBP600 for breaching lorry weight rules in Launton, Oxfordshire, on February 4. He must pay GBP240 in costs and surcharge.

SERGEJS CVETKOS, 38, of Connaught Road, Chatham, admitted breaching the weight restriction in his 18 tonne Renault lorry on the A415 in February. He was fined GBP600 and ordered to pay GBP240 in costs and surcharge. KRYZSZTOF FATYGA, 35, of Melbourne Avenue, London, admitted driving an overweight DAF truck on the A415 in January.

He was fined GBP600 and ordered to pay GBP240 in costs and surcharge. TONY MILLS, 41, of Mallort Close, Barry, was fined GBP1,000 after he was found guilty in his absence of driving an overweight Iveco HGV on the A415 at Kingston Bagpuize in January. He must pay GBP280 in costs and surcharge.

SIMON MAUGHAN, 55, of Tamar Way, Didcot, admitted being behind the wheel of an overweight DAF HGB in Couching Street, Watlington. He was fined GBP600 and must pay GBP240 in costs and surcharge. REBECCA COOPER, 19, of Christchurch Court, Banbury, was fined GBP1,760 and ordered to pay GBP266 in costs and surcharge for breaching coronavirus rules by leaving her home without a reasonable excuse on March 2, 2021.

IONUT-MADELIN GRUIA, 28, of West Bar Street, Banbury, was found to have broken coronavirus rules by taking part in an outdoor gathering at a property in Ferriston, Banbury. He was fined GBP1,760 and must pay GBP266 in costs and surcharge. EMMA JACKSON, 42, of Wilsham Road, Abingdon, was fined GBP1,760 and told to pay GBP266 in costs and surcharge after she was found to have taken part in a gathering of two or more people at her home on March 10.

JOE JOFIRISI, 27, of King Walk, Didcot, was found to have left the home without a reasonable excuse and in breach of coronavirus rules. He was fined GBP1,760 and ordered to pay GBP266 in costs and surcharge. HARRY JONES, 21, of Ridgefield Road, Oxford, was found to have taken part in a gathering at his home on May 9 in breach of the coronavirus regulations.

The magistrates ordered he pay GBP266 in costs and surcharge and fined him GBP1,760. RAMI KARAKI, 26, of Walton Well Road, Oxford, admitted taking part in a coronavirus rule-breaking gathering at a flat in Juxon Street, Oxford, in March. He was fined GBP200 and ordered to pay a GBP34 victim surcharge.

JOSHUA RODNEY, 22, of Leiden Road, Oxford, admitted taking part in a gathering at Bonn Square on March 10 in breach of the coronavirus rules. He was fined GBP320 and ordered to pay GBP124 in costs and surcharge. LENNY TRINDER, 33, of Botley Road, was found to have left his home without a reasonable excuse in breach of the coronavirus regulations on March 21.

He was fined GBP1,100 and must pay GBP200 in costs and surcharge. KALISHA YEARWOOD, 20, of Dunnock Way, Oxford, admitted taking part in a gathering at a flat in Beech Road, Oxford, on February 27 in breach of the covid rules. She must pay GBP234 in fines and victim surcharge.

KENNETH GRIMES, 74, of Wessex Road, Didcot, was found guilty of driving on Broadway, Didcot, without due care and attention. He was fined GBP200, ordered to pay GBP534 in costs and surcharge and was given six penalty points. ALEXANDER AZEVEDO, 20, of Britannia Road, Banbury, admitted damaging a tyre worth GBP62.

He was ordered to pay compensation and GBP85 in costs. VINAY DAWETT, 27, of Bancroft Close, Northampton, was given a 12-month community order and 150 hours of unpaid work. He was found guilty in his absence of threatening behaviour in Oxford.

He must pay GBP400 in costs and surcharge. ANTONIO MARRAFFA, 26, of Iffley Road, Oxford, was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment for breaching a criminal behaviour order by being on a bicycle and breaching a suspended sentence. He must pay GBP213 in costs and surcharge.

GRANT BECKLEY, 19, of Chalvey Road, Bicester, was fined GBP100 after he admitted breaching a suspended sentence. LAURENTI ARNAULT, 39, of Maltfield Road, Oxford, was found to have driven without a licence and in excess of the speed limit on A41 at Bicester. He was fined GBP880 and ordered to pay GBP178 in costs and surcharge.

STEPHEN CAMERON, 50, of Wynbush Road, Oxford, was fined GBP880 after the magistrates found he had driven on Cowley Road without insurance or a licence. He must pay GBP178 in costs and surcharge.
